The information on this page pertains only to email addresses submitted with a problem solution, not to email addresses used to sign up for news about the APL Challenge.
No marketing communications
Providing an email address with your solution submission does not mean that you have consented to receive marketing emails.
We will not send promotional or marketing communications unless you explicitly opt in.
Email addresses and communications
When you submit a solution to the APL Challenge, you can choose to provide an email address so that we can contact you if your submission is selected as a winner. You should only provide an email address that you control.
How we handle email addresses
- We collect your email address at the time you submit an APL Challenge solution if you include it.
- We store your email address together with the relevant APL Challenge question or problem number.
- We do not send a confirmation email when you submit your solution.
- We will only contact you by email if your submission is selected as a winning entry.
Winner notification emails
If your submission is selected as a winner, we will send you email(s) to notify you and to request a response (for example, to arrange delivery of a prize).
These emails are:
- sent as part of administering the APL Challenge.
- factual and administrative in nature.
- not promotional or marketing content.
If your entry is selected as a winner, we will contact you by email. If we do not receive a response, we might send a limited number of reminder emails before your prize is forfeited.
Lawful basis
Our lawful basis for processing email addresses submitted with APL Challenge entries is legitimate interest and performance of contract.
It is reasonable to expect that we need to contact you if your entry wins. We limit our use of email addresses strictly to this purpose and do not use them for unrelated communications.
Retention
We retain email addresses only for as long as necessary to administer the relevant APL Challenge round.
Right to erasure
Your email address will be erased from our records if you request this by contacting us at challenge@dyalog.com. Please note that if your email address is removed, your submission cannot be selected as a winner.
Cookies
We use cookies (localStorage) to keep your answers and email address in your browser.
Liability
We are not liable for any damage, loss, or disappointment suffered by you for taking part or not being able to take part in this competition.
Right to change
In the event of unforeseen circumstances, we may alter, amend, or cancel the challenge without prior notice, and we reserve the right to change these terms at any time.
Jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the Laws of England and Wales, and all disputes are subject to the legal authority of the courts of England and Wales.
Agreement
All participants must submit to all of the above. Entries not submitted in accordance with these terms and all other rules and directions (in the view of Dyalog Ltd) will be excluded from the APL Challenge round.
